in broad strokes, the essentials
of full participation in Four Peaks Community Church. There is no formal
membership at Four Peaks. A person is considered to be an informal member
when he/she participates in the "Six G's":
I have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by trusting
Him for the forgiveness of my sins. I gather in worship to express my
love for God and to be refreshed in His love and grace toward me.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can
boast." -Ephesians 2:8-9
I am committed to a lifelong process of spiritual growth, trusting in
the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to transform my life. I nurture my
personal relationship with Christ, particularly through Bible reading,
prayer and practicing the presence of Christ in me.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,”
-2 Peter 3:18a
“...be filled with the Holy Spirit.” -Ephesians 5:18b
(Ephesians 6:18; II Timothy 3:16-17)
I am committed to being a vital member of a small group where I am connected
relationally for the purpose of mutual encouragement, support and accountability.
“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent
the night praying to God. When morning came, He called His disciples
to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated apostles. ”
-Luke 6: 12-13
"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship,
to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe,
and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All
the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their
possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day
they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread
in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising
God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being saved.” -Acts 2: 42-47
I am discovering and developing my unique, God-given abilities, and
I am intentionally using these gifts to serve within the church and
further it’s ministry.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone
speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone
serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all
things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.” I Peter 4:10-11
(I Corinthians 12-14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4)
-
I realize that everything I possess comes from God and I honor Him by
generous giving to Him and by being a responsible steward of all that
I have.
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your
crops.” Proverbs 3:9
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give
what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound
to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need,
you will abound in every good work. II Corinthians 9: 6-8
(Malachi 3:10; Luke 6:38)
I actively pray for people in my sphere of influence and seek to share
with them the message of Jesus Christ and I am increasingly involved
in what God is doing around the world.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you
always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28: 19-20
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and
to the ends of the earth.” -Acts 1:8
